Narrow streets of Passau Germany on a Danube cruise

You will visit Passau on your Danube river cruise if you leave from Budapest or from Vilshofen. I took this picture first week of March and you can see that the streets are empty. If you take this cruise in June - August they will be full of tourists.

Passau is a charming city located in southeastern Germany, at the confluence of three rivers: the Danube, Inn, and Ilz. It is often referred to as the "City of Three Rivers" or the "Bavarian Venice" due to its unique location. Passau is situated near the border of Austria and is the last major German town on the Danube before it flows into Austria.

Historically, Passau has been an important trading hub and a center of cultural exchange. The city has a rich history that dates back to Roman times, and it has been influenced by various cultures over the centuries. Passau's strategic location made it a crucial site for trade between Eastern and Western Europe.

One of the prominent landmarks in Passau is the St. Stephen's Cathedral, also known as Passau Cathedral. This magnificent baroque-style cathedral dominates the city's skyline and is a must-visit attraction. Its interior is adorned with beautiful frescoes and houses the world's second largest cathedral organ, boasting over 17,000 pipes.
